The infamous blue and yellow ticket stub logo decorates the walls, while TV's suspended from the ceiling roll the week's favorite film, offering entertainment (and sometimes unnecessary distraction) for the indecisive perusing the aisles. I don't know why it's still in business. With all the recent news about Blockbuster, I grew curious whether anything has changed with the way it does business. I cancelled my membership years ago because it was too expensive, there were those nasty time limits on new releases (2 day, 3-day rentals), the store experience was a nightmare, and the selection was lousy and poorly managed. Sad to say, nothing has changed. I paid $4.95 for my copy of the Pirates of the Caribbean and I better watch it in 2 days. The store was a disaster. DVDs were out of place, screaming kids everywhere, tired parents arguing over what to watch, half the titles I wanted weren't there, and the prices were still ludicrous. What's worse is that every person that came up to the counter ahead of me had questions about this and that charge they didn't understand. Yep, Blockbuster is still at it, extracting $$ from people who are too tired/busy to check what they are paying for. I will watch the DVD tonight and cancel my membership tomorrow first thing. Nice experiment, but Blockbuster is still a place to avoid.
