A landmark resort with 21st-century amenities..
The Scene
This legendary resort was built by Morris Lapidus in 1956. It completed an extensive renovation just before the turn of the millennium, ensuring its 21st-century status as a luxury hotel and treasured landmark. The original terrazzo floors and marble-and-mahogany reception desk are intact from the days when celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra lent luster to the surroundings. A welcome addition to the property is the colorful, oceanfront Aquatica Beach Bar and Grill, featuring an extensive tequila wet bar.
The Details
The 631 rooms are furnished in a contemporary style with marble baths, separate sitting areas, walk-in closets and balconies that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Along with standard facilities, the resort offers racquetball and squash courts and a rock-climbing wall. The six-hundred feet of private beach is equipped with individual covered cabanas complemented by personal attendants. The enormous Spa of Eden and Wellness Center boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views and tranquil, private treatment areas.
old stlye elegance. What fun to stay somewhere with the glamour of old hollywood on the walls. It was great to imagine Sammy Davis, Lucy and Desi and everyone walking in the same lobby. the rooms were large and clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Our view of the bay kept me entertained.
