It completed an extensive renovation just before the turn of the millennium, ensuring its 21st-century status as a luxury hotel and treasured landmark. What fun to stay somewhere with the glamour of old hollywood on the walls. It was great to imagine Sammy Davis, Lucy and Desi and everyone walking in the same lobby. the rooms were large and clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Our view of the bay kept me entertained.

Valet parking runs a steep $30 a night, so consider if you even need a car at the hotel.
The Extras:
The iconic hotel re-opened in October 2008 after a $180 million makeover. In other words, take any reviews earlier than that with a grain of salt.
