Editorial Review for Jackie Gleason Theater – by Manuel Pila
In Short
The spacious lobby conjures visions of polite social gatherings in Miami Beach's jet-set heyday in the '50s. This classy auditorium still attracts a cultured crowd, but the range of cultures included in the arts community is far broader now than during its early years. Inaugurated in 1951 as the Miami Beach Auditorium, it's best remembered for a '60s stint as the home of the Jackie Gleason Show. After the famed comedian's passing in 1987, the auditorium was renamed the Jackie Gleason Theater.
