Clay Hotel&International Hostel

Owner

Nestled on the corner of quaint Espanola Way and bustling Washington Avenue, The Clay Hotel is a jewel among places to stay in the Historic Art Deco District of Miami Beach. The Clay Hotel nurtures the spirits of visitors who come from around the world. We have a reputation as an oasis of comfort for people who have traveled from faraway places. The stucco exteriors reminiscent of old world Spain, the boutiques and shops, the fine cafes and the courtyards filled with perfumed flowers are enough to make you want to stay forever. Or at least return again and again.

The Scene
International students and families mingle in this two-story ,1925 Spanish-style village that was originally built for local artists and musicians. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Pink-and-white striped window canopies, wrought-iron balconies, terra-cotta tiled floors and intimate patio cafe add to its romantic ambience. Multilingual staff will help with tours, dinner reservations or trips to Lincoln Road Mall. One of the most popular nightclubs on South Beach is directly across the street; the beach is two blocks away.

The Details
Fifty guest rooms include dorms, economy rooms with shared baths or family accommodations with private baths. All have telephones, voice mail, ceiling fans and refrigerators. Many face colorful Española Way, which often hosts open-air markets and street fairs with live music. On the first floor are a bar and a couple of reasonably priced restaurants.

I just spent a week at the Clay. The rooms are small, but, you are not paying for a large room. They are very clean and offer a great value. If you enjoy spending your travel budget on expensive hotels then you should stay somewhere else, but, if you like the convience of being in the center of the action without breaking the bank stay at the Clay! Many fine shops, clubs and restaurants are only steps away.
