A contemporary Art Deco hotel with tropical flair..
The Scene
Named after the popular song by Irving Berlin, this 1934 hotel is only a short walk to South Beach, the designer shopping of Lincoln Road Mall and the legendary Jackie Gleason Theatre. Once owned by Merv Griffin, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel is actually two separate buildings--the Lafayette and Les Suites--joined by a breezeway. The lobby carefully merges elements such as the original Mediterranean-style arched windows with a contemporary convention-hotel-style, bird-of-paradise carpet.
The Details
The property features 75 guest rooms and seven suites decorated with contemporary furnishings and tropical colors. Pampering treats include fresh flowers, CD players and cozy bathrobes. The intimate Mediterranean-style restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special offers are available, such as the Fifth Night Free or the GM's Package, which includes a suite, boat tour, dinner for two, nightclub passes and massages.
excellent service. the service was excellent. everyone was helpful. the rooms were nice and cozy. the swimming pool's small (only 3 feet deep) but in general, we had a great time and would definitely recommend it.
Who needs stainless steel?. The Blue Moon Hotel is a little bit of stability in the chaotic heart of trendy South Beach. The rooms are cozy and decorated without the tired ultra modern chic so common in the Art Deco area. The staff is friendly, the location convenient and, although small, as a pleasant swimming pool. I enjoyed my stay and will return this winter.
