I made rerservations with The Greenview at 1671 Washington Avenue, but when I arrived I was told that they had neither a reservation for me nor a room. The girl at the front desk called the Aqua Hotel & Lounge and I was told to head there, which was three blocks away. I believe they are both under the same owners. I had to walk at 10:30 at night, a solo young woman, with all of my luggage because they would not call me a cab and I couldn't catch one outside.
Apparently I got the last room they had, because people coming in after me were turned away. I was given room #205 which had two double beds in what looked like a dorm room. Both sets of mattresses and boxsprings were wrapped in hard plastic. The next day I thought I saw some bites on my left arm, but did not think too much of it. That second night, as I lay in bed, I started to notice more welts on my arm. At 1:30am, I got up, turned the lights on, and started looking at the sheets. I found bedbugs in the sheets and crawling on a pillow. I noticed even more welts, now on both arms. I took a plastic cup from the bathroom, got a bedbug in it, and then stacked another cup inside of it to trap but not crush it.
I went to the front desk and showed the young man down there my arms and the bedbug. I told him that I was going upstairs to pack all of my things and that when I came down, he was moving me to another location. I went upstairs and took my clothes off of the second bed which I had to lay there because the "closet" only had two shelves with blankets tied up in a garbage bag. I eventually found that this bed also had bedbugs crawling on it, so I would not be able to wear any of the clothes I had brought with me. Thankfully I had made a few clothing purchases earlier in the evening. I collected more bedbugs, including one engorged with blood, and went back downstairs to the front desk.
The desk clerk told me that he would only move me to The Greenview, and not to another business. I told him that they had told me the previous night that they had no more rooms for the entire weekend, and that if the same people clean both places, I was not about to go there if they had had a room available. Then he told me that I had to wait until morning, which meant that I would have to go back upstairs and sleep on one of the two bedbug-infested beds.
I called the third party that thankfully I had booked my original hotel through, and they moved me to another hotel.
After I left, more welts began showing up on my body. I have welts on my torso, chest, and I look as if I have sleeves of welts on both of my arms. All in all, I have approximately 50 bites from bedbugs from this establishment on me. I have no idea what diseases these insects may have been carrying or may have transmitted to me, and I have no medical insurance.

Very friendly professional staff. Rooms are clean and new. The hotel is minutes to the beach, shops, linclon road. I loved it!

I chose this hotel during Art Basel because of its location. Unfortunately they have stolen my sunglasses!!
My girlfriend left my D&G glasses at the reception so that I could collect them in the afternoon. We got the name of the girl that collected them and the precise time in witch the glasses were left. After 5 times we tried to have them back, the manager just said that it was none of her business, if we wanted we could to report to the police.
Service was terrible but no surprise with a manager like that! My glasses cost like 3 nights at the hotel...
Worst than a Hostel. This has to be the worst hotel Ever - More like Motel. The floors are concrete,with no rugs, the floor was dusty, no space to hang up your clothes or put them in drawers. It was freezing constantly, the rooms do not have individual temperature controls, The best they could do was give us more blankets, There is NO POOL and the jacuzzi was cold water - no heat at all , i got 2 different stories 1st the jacuzzi turns off at midnight and 2nd the maintenance man was here to fix it, i'll give him a call. Yes it is in the middle of everything, the shops on lincoln drive, and 2 blocks from the beach. But it really is comparable to a stay in a hostel. Thats what it felt like. The continental breakfast was the worst ever - a counter set up with 1 toaster, bagels, oj, tea and coffee and that is virtually it. The only up side - we could do some people watching from the balcony, but the beds on the balcony or loungers looked like that sheets had not been washed in a long time, one woman was laying on it nayked and there was a brown stain on it, But the courtyard was pretty. The staff could not help with directions, i had to ask for an iron, and there was construction going on outside the building. This was my worst hotel experience ever - DON"T Go !!! Trust the negative reviews don't go - not now not ever - It's a hole in the wall. With no space at all.
A hidden art-deco gem with a boutique sensibility..

I would rather stay in a Motel 6. If you like cement floors, dirty bathrooms and rubbermaid night stands, then the Aqua Hotel is for you. The rooms were a very nice size, but it looked like they went to the thrift store to furnish it. When you check in, don't expect anyone to help you upstairs with your bags.(No elavator, only 2 floors) My stay there was not that pleasant, except for the beautiful friend I met from England. The hotel(really a motel) lost power at about 10pm Sat and was not restored until 11pm Sun. After that, there was no hot water or clean towels. (Oh and no continental breakfast. Since when do you need power for fresh fruit and pastries?) The staff was not friendly at all.
The best boutique hotel on South beach. everyone was incredibly friendly, rooms are super clean and very relaxing. my requests for breakfast, blanket taxi, late checkout, etc... was accepted with a smile. I go to Miami very often and I think I found my hotel. and pretty reasonably priced too (130/nt) the service was truly top notch - what a pleasure to be their guest!
Hip & Funky. AQUA is the hippest hotel in South Beach. My friend and I had a great vacation thanks to the friendly staff who shared the inside scoop on where to go each night. Our room was the perfect size and had cool and funky furniture. The sundeck and the lounge were great places to chill, and since Aqua was so close to the ocean we went every day. If you want to have fun, be near all the action, and get a great room for a great deal, Aqua is the place to stay!
Like bad service? Stay here.. The staff at Aqua is RUDE and incompetent. I requested a room with 2 beds. Upon arrival was upgraded to the penthouse because my room was not ready. Then, I was told the penthouse was reserved, and I had to move my things early the next morning into another room (with no help). At check-out, they were going to charge me for a room I never even stayed in, which was $40 more than the room I was actually in. The "manager" was incredibly rude and hesitant to fix their mistake. He said that I was trying to hustle him for a discount and refused to listen to what I had to say. No wonder the hotel was so VACANT! Terrible staff ruined my vacation. DO NOT STAY AT AQUA! There are plenty of other cute/trendy hotels on South Beach that offer more amenities and friendly, welcoming service.
