A charming, retro, rocking-chair inn slightly off the beaten path..
The Scene
Complete with original terrazzo floors, retro neon lights and glass-block walls, this two-story 1939 art-deco inn offers 25 cozy guest rooms, efficiencies with kitchenettes and one-bedroom apartments. With outdoor chairs and old-school ambience, the property reflects the city's laid-back past rather than its sleek present. It's one block from the beach and close to Miami Beach Convention Center and Lincoln Road Mall, but the street itself is off the main strip.
The Details
Furnished with 1940s-style decor and accented in warm pastels, accommodations include refrigerators, cable TV, telephone, voice mail and ceiling fans. The old-fashioned wall air-conditioning units will take you back in time, but they're part of the hotel's character. Along with their hum, you can almost hear Glen Miller and his Big Band sounds. The guest house has no reception desk; it shares a phone number and reception with the nearby Riviere Apart Hotel.
