Shopping >Books & Books
A Diamond With A Flaw.
I've been coming to this bookstore since I first moved to Miami Beach, in 1997.
Since that time, the shop has moved from its former location to another space literally next door, and the new shop is sleeker and more upscale in appearance.
I love Books&Books, in fact it is one of my favorite shops on the Beach.
However, I do have one problem with B&B, and it's a big one: the staff.
Although there ARE several staff members who are knowledgeable and helpful, there do seem to be an equal number of extremely rude and unfriendly people working there; one, in particular, is so rude and nasty that I almost wonder if she needs to be on some kind of anti-psychotic medication.
It's terrible that a couple of (obviously) unhappy people can mar what is such a lovely and well-stocked shop.
Best Breakfast!. We had the best breakfast at this place after walking past it on a Tuesday morning. There wasn't much open and serving breakfast on a Tuesday, and this place looked decent. The cappuccino was passable, but we wouldn't recommend it. Too much foam and not great for the $3.75 pricetag. But the breakfast was fantastic. My sister had the grilled ham and eggs benedict, which was multigrain toast, with ham and a poached egg and an avocado hollandaise sauce on top. It was to die for. The avocado hollandaise was so unique and delicious. I had the Miami stuffed toast which was the multigrain french toast stuffed with cream cheese and bananas and then grilled. It was phenomenal. And very reasonably priced. Our entrees were between $8-$9. We highly recommend!
Knowledgable staffers and an intimate atmosphere give this indie bookstore an edge over the big book chains..
Cramped, quaint and jammed with smarty-pants staffers, this is your typical indie bookstore experience. A veritable who's who of the Miami literati gather here, and locals linger in the aisles to catch a glimpse of celebrities, often spotted at the Lincoln Road location. Enjoy coffee, biscotti and other munchies at the outdoor cafe for the best view. The shelves are stocked with the usual New York Times bestsellers, along with a renowned collection of architecture, design and arts books and local titles.
