Editorial Review by Bill Citara. Very fresh fish and very French ambience are a one-two punch.
Pretentious...Save you $$$'s. Forced Gratuity...waiter not willing to help. Why should he? Lobster was exceptionally dry...didn't know it could be this dry! Service was remarkable for being so bad. 3 of us spent in excess of $155 w/o drinks. Asked for sides that were either 1) not delivered...ever or 2) had to ask a second time. Music was good. We took care of lowering the plastic awning when the rain came by ourselves! Won't recommend and will certainly pass by next time in town. (Actually this place was so bad we will continue to talk about it...negatively!)
Two Frenchies. After a disappointing meal at a Thai restaurant on Washinton Ave, we strolled past Les 2Fontaines, where Sergio the waiter beckoned us to enjoy a dessert. We ordered a key lime pie that was very unremarkable. As will all food checks that week (we spent over $500 on just meals!), we were forced to pay the included-in-the-bill 17% gratuity for service that was always weak, disinterested and they seemed to never really crack a smile, even on the slow nights. Hey, if they don't have to WORK for their tips, why should they, huh? Actually, the best service we got in Miami was the Saturday morning we left town at the IHOP on the NW side--busy & bustling, but in & out within an hour with great service with a smile!! Needless to say, we volunteered a big tip at that one!
Nice Owner - Awful Food. My wife and I stumbled in here one pleasant afternoon because it looked so promising. The boisterous owner made sure the staff attended to us, and even arrived with the food we ordered admonishing us to take our time and enjoy it. Alas, the only time we took was singaling the waiter to remove the water logged twice frozen 'seafood' ASAP. We ordered the cold sea food platter for two and it was horrible. Not one item was fresh, and certainly nothing was tasty. The atmosphere is great. Skip this place or only order wine.
Better for brunch. We've been coming here for the fabulous quiche lorraine on the brunch menu for the last few years. The atmosphere is very charming and romantic. However we tried our first dinner here this past May and were very disappointed. The seafood was bland and the penne a la vodka was pathetic (hardly any sauce, just a bowl of noodles!). Definitely recommend it for brunch or lunch but not dinner.
