Tips for Rendezvous On The Beach

Awful food, dreadful service, costs more than French Laundry. Entrees listed on the menu ranged up to $42 (a standard lobster tail). My fiance opted to get the "special" seafood platter. What they didn't tell us is that the "special" entree was EIGHTY-NINE DOLLARS. It had chewey lobster, some other random type of mushy overcooked fish, and shrimp. I ordered prawns on saffron risotto. The "risotto" was standard rice. It was yellow, but I tasted no saffron. Three out of four prawns were not deveined, which is just gross when they're that huge.

We were there to celebrate, so ordered a $65 bottle of domestic sparkling wine which could be found for under $20 in any grocery store (all wines I was familiar with were doubled or tripled in cost).

The service was awful--we had to refill our own champagne and were out of water almost the whole meal. Both our table and two tables around us were out of food and anything to drink for nearly a half hour before one of our "table neighbors" went and fetched the waiter for the bill. And this when the restaurant was over half empty! Lucky for the staff that the 18% tip was automatically added. The bill for two appetizer salads, two entrees, and what should have been a cheap bottle of champagne? $290!

I'm from San Francisco, and so it takes a lot to make me feel like I've been fleeced by any restaurant's pricing, but I still get a negative feeling when I think of that place. We walked around the next day and I glanced at prices from other nearby restaurants on the strip--all are much cheaper, yet eerily identical in menu options and vibe. I'm far from alone in feeling scammed--see tripadvisor reviews.

Nicest dining on the strip. If you can get past the fact that all these places badger you to death to come eat you will find that Rendevous on the Beach is probably the nicest restaurant on Ocean Drive. Loved the live electric violinist- very romantic. Great service. And I was very thankful when I ordered lobster tail and it came already de-shelled and cut for me. The tuna tataki was delicious.

not good value for the money. i was kinda surpeized, when the bill for dinner for 2 came up 141$ without drinks.... so called special of the day - sushi box - was 56$, but everything was fried....what a disapointment. the apetizer - tuna and salmon tartar was not bad, but the rest....good only if u like fried foods...
