Editorial Review for China Grill – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
The mostly Asian decor serves to highlight the flamboyant, artfully presented cuisine, delivered politely by the efficient waitstaff. Extravagant, expensive and generally excellent, China Grill's brand East-meets-West cuisine is much imitated but rarely surpassed. Signature dishes include an enormous salad of curly endive and Peking duck bits in a citrusy dressing and smashing ahi sashimi tempura with piquant wasabi sauce.

Insider Tips
What To DrinkWine prices are high, but the selection is outstanding. The 1996 Alban Vineyards grenache ($66) has a smoky, raspberry-ish fruit that holds up to dishes' complex seasoning.
When To GoThe action here starts late, so if you don't have reservations, try showing up around 7pm.
Where To SitEvery seat offers a different visual experience, from subdued to star-studded. Multi-level dining platforms feature imported Egyptian limestone floors, rich wood accents and walls inlaid with gold leaf. A copper sushi bar is the focal point in the room where the frequent flux of celebrities likes to hang out. An outdoor patio provides a view and some tropical air on warm evenings.

The term "family style" was used by all three of our waitpersons ( the last one certainly doing damage control as the others made some pretty bad mistakes ) to describe the portions. It is not. There is not one single reason the term should be used. The beef tartar appetizer was smaller, more expensive, and way less tasty than ones I've had at four star retaurants in Paris. Sorry, it's true. The main dishes are not large by any standard, except price. There is absolutely no reason this restaurant can justify the high cost of their surprisingly average food. Location is cool, but not that cool. There are better locations with more well designed restaurants that are expensive on the same street. Service was terrible. As a Floridian, I find service to generally not be as good as in some other parts of the country (NYC, Boston, DC come to mind) but this place was just wrong. This restaurant was a huge let down and I can't say that I would recommend going there for any reason aside from laughing at a "wanna be" clientle.
Pros: laughing at customer base
Cons: all related to dining out

Wonderfull experience. let me start by saying that we had an excellent waiter who steered us away from ordering too much. I did not think that I could be surprised by a caesar salad yet theirs has a lot of flavor the crackling calamari salad was excellent as well. The spicy torro tuna was an excellent addiion to the salad. As for the entrees the pan seared spicy tuna. They had another entree; i just cannot remember the name. It was strips of rib eye that ewas excellent as well. As for deserts the banana tarte was very good aswell, however next time I would probably stuff my self with the appetizers and entrees and skip desert. We were a party of 11 and everything got there on time and warm. This was in Dec 2007 and not the busiest of times so that probably helped. We had 7 bottles of wine and paid $150 all in. Considering what I paid at other lousy restaurants in Miami it felt like a "deal".
Pros: Service and quality of the food
Cons: Pricey.
