Editorial Review for Spiga – by Lesley Abravanel
In Short
Like the hotel in which it resides, Spiga is out of the limelight. So much so that smart celebrities choose it as an escape: Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas even dined here as newlyweds. What's not low-key is the cuisine. The garlicky gnocchi with tomato and basil is an illustration of how simple doesn't have to be bland. The the risotto with bay scallops is a rousing display of culinary precision.

The food here is exceptional! The portions are small, but worth every bite you take. You will spend on average about $25 a person or more depending if you get wine, a salad, and/or desert. Service here was also perfect. Our waters were refilled right on cue and we were asked if we wanted more mine before we ran out. Wonderful place!
Pros: The food, the service
Cons: It is located in South Beach.

We went to Spiga while in Miami Beach for our 10th anniversary. From the very beginning the service was impecable. They have an extensive wine list and our choice was excellent. Prices were moderate, but the tasty food was over the top. We have eaten at every kind of Italian restaurant from chain to family owned, and Spiga is in our top 3! We sat on the patio, and the ambiance was magnificent. The hostess/server treated us like we were the only people in the place. While watching the other patrons, we realized that everyone was treated this way. When in Miami beach, forget the other more notable restaurants and check out this little treasure. We are definitely going to Spiga when we go back. If we could rate it with more than 5 stars, we would.
