If you're looking for the best breakfast on Ocean Drive, you've found the right place at the Front Porch Cafe. South Beach locals have long-appreciated this tiny spot on the north end of the Ocean Drive strip for its quick service (in South Beach !?!), and pleasant setting on the ground level of the Penguin hotel.Due to the Front Porch's popularity the wait is sometimes excessive, but the food is definitely worth it, as are the conversations you might overhear in the tightly packed cafe. In Short – Located on the quieter end of Ocean Drive, this is a favorite breakfast spot for locals who like good food and service sans the South Beach attitude. Dig into huge breakfasts like French toast with bananas and walnuts, omelettes stuffed with grilled veggies and Jack cheese, or blueberry pancakes the size of a steerig wheel. The lunch menu features standard but tasty salads and sandwiches, including a great chicken Caesar and an exceptionally good burger.
Editor's Tips
- Look Good:
- Casual dress is the norm here. Wear a sundress, sweats or a bathing suit and you'll still be treated to hospitable service and fresh food.
- Know Before You Go:
- It seems that nobody here is in a rush, and if you are, well, this isn't the place for you.

I really like coming here for the occasional brunch. I say occasional only because it priced a little higher than an every weekend kind of place. Other than that the food is really good with large portions, and the atmosphere is inviting.

Great Place for Brunch

My boyfriend and I traveled to the Cafe for brunch after reading all of the reviews. The trip was well worth it, there was no one on the corner bugging you to eat there, mostly locals (what a relief). The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Daniel is the best.
- Pros: Great food, Great Service, and Daniel the bartender
- Cons: none
The food is amazing and the location is great.

There are a ton of restuarants up and down Ocean that try to get you to eat there, I am so glad we held out for the Front Porch. The food is so good and the service is great! We went there twice and wait maybe 10 minutes at the most. Not to mention it is not that expensive. I was trying to stay on my diet while on vacation and I found a ton of healthy food options at Front Porch that made it really easy.
- Pros: Great food, fast service and nice location.
Good food. Slow Service.

this place has good food, big portions and at low prices. The service is a little slow - probably because they include the gratuity even on a party of two.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: slow service

Best bets on the menu include a hearty order of granola pancakes, the fresh fruit salad and any of the just-squeezed juices. Later in the day, smart locals gather to enjoy home-style cooking in a laid back atmosphere at this quiet end of Ocean Drive. This might be the least expensive option for reliable dining on this tourist-driven strip.
