In Short
Located on Calle Ocho near the heart of Little Havana, La Moderna Poesia proudly represents its Cuban heritage. Be warned: If you don't have an opinion on the political situation in Cuba, you probably will have one before you leave this immaculate bookstore. This is The Place to find Spanish-language books and the selection of Latin-American histories and biographies is quite comprehensive. Classics by authors like Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega and newer works by erotic novelist Zoe Valdez, plus Daina Chaviano, Paulo Coelho, Jorge Ramos and more. These and works by authors like Isabel Allende, Mario Vargas Llosa and, of course, Danielle Steele are bestsellers. But you'll also find English-language classics, children's books and cookbooks here, too.

I was looking for several good Spanish novels to read, and I had heard of La Moderna Poesia and decided to visit myself and see their selection of Spanish novels. As soon as I arrived I was overcome with delight, so beautifully decorated, such a great ambiance. I was left in wonder, as I walke down aisles and aisles of books, most of them appealed to me, I was unsure of which ones to picked. They offered instant customer service, and asked me if I were looking for somethign specific and they helped me find those novels that I was looking for. The prices were also good, maybe even cheaper than most bookstores. I would highly recommend to thos elookign for Spanish books PROS: Wide selection, good prices CONS: none

This is a no-frills bookstore that initially seems kind of bland compared to Barnes & Noble or Borders. But once you start looking at the selection, you forget all about the lack of an in-house coffee shop. You can find all sorts of Spanish-language books that you're not going to easily find anywhere else. Besides politically-charged literature (we're dealing with Cubans, who have a lot to say about politics!), there are classics and modern literature as well. This is a great place to find a treasure!
