THEY TURN OFF THE GRILL AT 9:30 PM?. I HOPE THE MANAGER READS THIS. The website says they close at 10:30 pm on Sundays. Why would they turn the grill off an HOUR before? Times are tough. I know people want to go home at the end of the night, but can any place really afford to lose TWO orders? Not to mention us thinking twice about heading in here on some other Sunday . . .

-- disappointed locals. :(

Over-priced with poor service. This restaurant has gone downhill! The prices have sky-rocketed while the portions remain the same. The fries were served cold, and the food was not exceptional. Furthermore, the waitstaff is terrible! Our waiter failed to bring the correct side to our meal, and never checked in with us to see how we liked our food or if we wanted a drink refill. To add insult to injury, after charging an exorbitant amount for the meal, our waiter then proceeded to throw out our food after we specifically requested him to box the remainder to go. We will never return here, and I don't recommend that you eat at the Gable's Diner either!

It's not a conventional diner, but this Downtown Gables institution will have you feeling like you're at home.. In Short
More Gables than Diner, this restaurant owes more to its tony surroundings than the greasy spoon imagery that its moniker may suggest. You won't find lobster ravioli, filet mignon, or shrimp quesadillas at a truck stop, that's for sure. The catch, of course, is that you can still order a plate of meatloaf or a sloppy Joe sandwich. Loaded with area workers by day and local families by night, it's a perfect portrait of Downtown Gables living. Whether you opt for the diner-like apple pie a la mode dessert or prefer a more haute cuisine closer like the pyramid-shaped Noisette with chocolate Ganache and hazelnut mousse, its all ultimately comfort food.

Holy Hamburgers, Sllopy Joe's, All American breakfast ..... This spacious Gables Diner isn't really a diner as one may imagine. If that is what you think you better be prepared for a surprise. This restaurant has all the features of a excelent old style dining room , this one serves breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, but it does not close in between. They whip up down-home food like Chicken Marsala and Meatloaf.

They brag about their breakfasts - old-fashioned oatmeal with fresh fruit side, real home fries, flapjacks, eggs and sausages. You have to pay for nostalgia: The whole shebang may run as high as US$10 to $12, but after breakfast you won't have to eat for the rest of the day. This casual, family-oriented restaurant combines traditional diner fare with health-oriented cuisine. The variety of entrees, from breakfast foods to hamburgers to hearty salads, makes this a great choice for groups of people with varying tastes. All items are made with fresh ingredients and are reminiscent of home cooking. Clean and upscale, the restaurant provides a comfortable and casual environment for both single diners and families. Service is friendly and efficient, sometimes very busy they can't provide the best atention.

Confort food. We dined at Gables Diner restaurant the last week, we had a wonderful time. The waiter was attentive and very friendly, and the food was fantastic.

The Filet Mignon Special and the Montigo Chicken were excellent as well as the Noisette dessert.

We will definitely return, and have already told many people what a great family style restaurant.

Simply a good service, food and atmosphere, Very good, we will be back.

Hostess and waitress very nice, Thanks.

Great Food/Terrible Customer Service!. While the food is really great, today was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered!

There were (3) charges to my card before my lunch was delivered and all in different amounts! I called Gables Diner left a message regarding the charges and later I received a call from "Oscar Sanchez, "Manager of Gables Diner" on speaker phone as if he were some high powered legal eagle calling the opposition to settle a dispute! I pulled up my account only to notice that there were now 4 charges for this one lunch to my card! Mr. Sanchez told me to fax over the paperwork and he would "research this accounting" I tried to fax over several times and then decided I would leave and walk over to Gables Diner to meet this"gentleman". When I arrived I was told he had left for about 15 to 20 minutes, I spoke to the assistant manager and gave her the paperwork. II left and called my bank. With my bank's customer service rep on a three way call to Gables Diner, the bank cust. rep explained that there were 4 erroneous charges and it was only then that this "Oscar Sanchez" agreed a mistake had been made by his staff. My bank removed the 3 charges and ended the call to Gables Diner asking me to stay on the line after he had hung up. The Customer Rep then told me she had NEVER experienced this kind of blatent rudeness and in fact (I had mentioned they should of comp'd the lunch for the trouble) the bank rep agreed!

While Gables Diner serves really great food, I suggest that anyone paying by credit card check their bank accounts soon after & if there is a problem . . . good luck with Mr. Sanchez!

Better than a diner. The menu, food quality, and ambience are better than what you'd normally associate with a diner, and the prices reflect this somewhat. The mahi sandwich is delicious, and sweet potato fries are dangerously addictive!

Great place for kids!. My family loves this place. The food is always consistently good and plentiful, and there is a large menu to chose from so everyone's happy. The kids love it because they love the food, there are more healthy options on the menu (grilled chicken fingers or fried - your choice) and they can be a little rambunctious because there are lots of other kids there too. My husband and I also like the fact that they have a full bar so we can have a drink if we so desire! The service can fluctuate, sometimes great, sometimes so-so, but overall our experiences have been good. And if we get the waiters that already know us, our experience is always wonderful because they go out of their way for us and our children. In addition, they contribute to Upromise, which means that a portion of our meal goes to our daughters' college accounts. We will definitely continue to be regulars there!

Deteriorating service..... We used to be regulars. Two recent experiences, with different servers, have convinced us otherwise. On one occasion, our waiter "marked" our table as taken by throwing down some straws and saying he'd be back to take our drink order. 15 mins later we asked another server for help and she said she'd send our server. Another five and we were out the door. Our next experience, different server, my husband told the expediter delivering his entree that he hadn't received his soup. Rather than apologize and ask if he'd like to have the charge removed, the server just brought it *at the end* of his meal!!!

We think they must be under new (bad) ownership. The old owners also ran Bugatti, a tightly run Italian place in the central Gables.

Don't go if you're hungry. And if you do, don't order multiple courses.
