Editorial Review for John Martin's Restaurant – by Jackie Potts

The Scene
If you could see past your nose in this dim, forest-green and wood-paneled pub, you'd notice burly suspender-wearing types lounging at the bar and cigar-smoking execs dining in the supper rooms. No fruity drinks or mojitos here: This is a popular scene for the portly, hard-drinking, Guinness-moustached crowd.

The Food
The traditional sausage-and-potatoes dish is typical of the Irish fare served, which also includes potato soup, corned beef and cabbage, Irish lamb stew, fish-and-chips, pan-seared calf's liver, and shepherd's pie. Seafood dishes like fresh dolphin sandwiches and grilled salmon with a dill cream sauce round out the menu. Order Harp, Bass and Guinness on tap.

Well, I love this place! I always go with my friends when I am back in Miami. It has a sort of European feel to it and the atmosphere is cool and relaxed. Last time I was there I had their burger and a side salad that had the best dressing... I am not sure what it was but I think it was the house. we also tried their self brewed wheat beer which was good and really affordable. I like supporting family run place like Johnmartin's and you know the food your getting is homemade.

Pros: atmosphere, home made food, Really great wheat beer

I went to John Martins on my birthday, and when no other restaurant in the area would take reservations, they did. They gladly accommodated my party of 22 and brought our food promptly considering the size of the group. I've had the fish and chips, the New Zealand mussels, and the stuffed tortellini... All have been fantastic. And the chocolate cake they brought me for my birthday was delicious. Thankfully the waiters did no cheesy singing, they left that to my friends.
