Top Pasta. This is a squizoid restaurant. The food is superb, particularly the fresh pasta dishes, bread, soups, and salads. A decent wine list, and very strong Italian coffee. In 20 years +, I've never had a bad meal here. Now for the other side...the owners give Germany or Austria or whatever part of Switzerland they're from a bad name. They are stereotypically anal-retentive and a severe pain in the rear. And whenever they're in the restaurant it's like a very dark cloud has descended upon the place. Their attitude has infected their entire waitstaff; hence, some of the other reviewers' remarks about weird waitresses. My father stopped going because they wouldnt substitute a sauce. His point is that if he's paying for the meal, it's his choice. After all, it's not exactly Per Se. Several friends get somewhat anxious when I suggest the place because they've had spats with the waitstaff. A friend just couldnt believe that a waiter refused to retire his soup just becuase he didnt like it. In all, a heckuva good meal, if you can put up with the attitude.
exceeded expectations!. A bit afraid after reading reviews, decided to go with another couple after my wife insisted. surprisinly good service, our waiter was very cordial, formal, helpful, and attentive. we ordered the only amarone in an all italian wine list and the wine was superb. the beef carpaccio was decent, but the spagetti with gamberri in tomato sauce was excellent, so were the other dishes. The prices were modest and an overall good experience. Will go back
HORRIFIC, ADVERSARIAL SERVICE!!!. I ate at Bugatti several times over ten years ago. Back then the service was so over-the-top terrible that I totally boycotted the place. I mean it. I did not step foot in that place for over ten years. Tonight, I caved in and agreed to meet some friends there. The food was good and the service was okay. Hmmm, I thought well, this place probably learned from the gazillion complaints. WRONG! Sure enough, when the bill came, they charged us for an item that we did not order. Honest mistake, right? WRONG! They REFUSED to take the item off the bill! They argued with the THREE of us (one lawyer and two executives) as if we were trying to rip them off or something. The manager/server guy even barked at me, "Just pay your bill and leave the restaurant." Leave we did and I will NEVER AGAIN step foot in that place!!! They are an HUGE embarrassment to Coral Gables and to the hospitality industry!
Okay, I'm trying not to laugh too hard as I write this review. The 2 reviews before mine (mentioning the weird waitress) are so true!!! Trust me, no one could make this stuff up! I too have met the wacky waitress and have seen her reactions to normal food requests. It's so funny! My theory is she must be related to someone...
However, the food at Bugatti is great! I love their egg noodle pasta! It's amazing... and the prices are reasonable. I'd skip their gnocchi (nothing fabulous). But, most of their dishes are very good and quite authentic tasting.
Now as for the waitress? She might get on some people's nerves. I would return just to see what she could do next! She made the whole dining experience so much more...I don't know? Intense? Interesting? Wacky? She seems to take everything very seriously, but it's quite fun to be in a situation where you think to yourself is this really happening? I guess that's why I'm getting a kick out of the prior reviews. I enjoyed my wacky waitress and loved the good food.
As for special requests? That's the one major flaw in Bugatti. I think if the owners want to take it to the next level they really should accommodate simple requests! But overall the food is fabulous and if you happen to get the waitress...sit back and enjoy the show. lol I actually just kicked this up to 4 stars because of th waitress. Think about it: you go to a restaurant and have a meal. However, with this waitress you go to a restaurant, have a meal, and a story to tell your friends, family, and anyone who would believe you!!! haha Too funny!
HORRIFIC! with a capital "H". ok....lets begin. So I go to order my pasta (b/c this is an ITALIAN restaurant) and i asked the WEIRD waitress to please give it to me with pink sauce (a common request among italian restaurants, you would think). After her strange physical reaction to my order she said "NO!, we don't have that I can bring you a side dish of tomato sauce and you can mix it on your own...and with an additional charge of $3.50. So i was like ok so i figured let me ask her to see if it can at least be mixed by the chef in the kitchen...when i actually asked her for this request, i have never seen a more shocking reaction like if the poor lady had been asked to go catch a fish for me in the freezing north pole...Honestly, Not only do i believe my request was not a difficult one to accomodate to, the additional charge is so ridiculous (even though the money is not the issue here) its the fact that they couldnt at least attempt to try to accomodate a customers request. They insisted that the sauces were already made. (Its called get a pan, put some tomato sauce, add a little alfredo and VOILA!!!)=PINK SAUCE... Im an Italian food lover and have been to some fabulous restaurants and i have to admit this type of thing has never happened to me and too boot the pasta wasn't even that good!!! Anyways it was a pretty bad experience. Some bad energy here.
Will never return!. Not a good experience. The waitress was stiff and over all strange in regards to her behavior. I ordered salmon as the main dish and what I received was a piece of salmon with some Bibb lettuce. On top of that the salmon was tasteless except for some dill sauce on top of it. We enjoy dining out frequently and have been to some of the best restaurants in town and I can definitely say that I will not be returning to Bugatti.
Excellent Restaurant!. Excellent Restaurant! I have adopted Bugatti as part of my three favorite restaurants in Miami. Being born in the gourmet capital of South America, Peru, I consider Bugatti to be on the top list! I would like to recommend it to anybody that enjoys a tranquile atmosphere, fresh, simple and delicious food and very friendly and courteus service.
Fantastic fresh pasta, exceptional service. This is one of the best pasta restaurants I have ever been to. The food is excellent, the service is wonderful, and the restaurant is clean. I had a party there a couple years back with about 15 people and the restaurant was very helpful in arranging seating. Would definitly reccomend going here.
Very Good Lasagna.... Every first Wednesday of the month they have this very delicious Lasagna thats hard to miss, it looks home made and they serve a good portion. The place is very small, but still worth going to eat Lasagna!
Finding good food in the Gables is easy. Finding food this good isn't..
The modern dining room belies the ancient craft of Italian cooking that goes on behind the scenes. Service complements the cuisine; waiters are friendly, bilingual and good-humored.
Tagliatelli with hearty--but not heavy--Bolognese sauce is just one example of the robust and delicious cuisine. Pizza with frutta di mare (seafood) is divine, as are any of the handmade pastas, not to mention the pizza quattro formaggio, for those who like lots of cheese. For dessert, don't miss an excellent rendition of the classic tiramisu.
