Great views. I like this place. I go there mostly for the view and the atmosphere. I like how casual and relaxed it is. And, the live music is nice.

I recommend going during Happy Hour... it has pretty good frozen drinks, but they are small and cost like $7 -- the Happy Hour deal is much more reasonable.

The food is good. I don't think you leave feeling ripped off or grossed out, but at least I go there primarily for the atmosphere and view.

Take seafood and a reggae band, add an ocean view and the result is this perfect bar and restaurant.. In Short
Here, patrons leave the pretensions in the parking lot (if there's a spot), but the kids can come. They'll be happy watching the boats sail by from one of the oversized picnic tables. Also a seafood restaurant, Monty's boasts some of the freshest shrimp and stone crabs, which are available at the outdoor raw bar. It's tough not to share with the hovering pelicans that beg unashamedly for marine snacks.

18% Gratuity added. 18% tip was added for party of two at the bar. The poor bartender probably would have gotten about 25% from me. Closest bar to my house and I will never return. Shame. This place ruled in the 80's

Old Florida, another one bits the dust!. Once upon a time in the heyday of Miami circa 1980`s Monty Trainers and the Grove were the place to Be and Be Seen. Monty`s was very casual and laid back. Great place to watch Football games and score with the babes.

The food was always great bar fare! During the 90`s Montys goes in another direction. They try to copy Joe`s. Guess what? The place flopped, the regular cliental was forced to leave and the Food along with the service leaves Mucho to be desired.

Raw deal on the water. When my wife and I went into the restaurant, no one came to help us until we started to walk around and a passing waiter said sit anywhere. Notices are posted that 18% gratuity is included in the total bill so the staff works to minimally please diners. We ordered 6 oysters that tasted great so we asked to make it a dozen. Our waiter told us he would charge for the 2 halves and when we asked if there was any way to avoid this, he came back to us saying the manager said no. The drinks are small and expensive ($7 per disposable plastic cup). Twenty minutes after my wife and I finished eating, I had to wander around the restaurant to find our waiter who was hanging out with the rest of the staff. This was on a Saturday night @ 8pm; there were empty tables everywhere.

3 words: STONE CRAB CLAWS. If you have yet to have them, you simply MUST! And this is an excellent place to indulge! Also the She Crab soup is decadent.

dine w/o people tripping. If dining in the open air is what thrills you;if good food interest you, this is your place,as brother Brigham said. You aren't stared at by the passing hordes of euros and touristas. You get great music at certein times.Schedule your arrival just before the performances. You aren't treated in a surly manner by the wait help if you don't run up a huge bar tab.I go to eat, enjoy the music and the bay.I and my party can eat enough to justify my seat rental.I have been hare about 6 times and enjoyed it each time.
