Editorial Review for Scotty's Landing – by Jennifer Osorio Kissell

In Short
Scotty's is hard to find for the uninitiated and that's exactly how locals like it. When you do find it grab a table as close to the water as you can, sit back, and relax. You'll need to because service is notoriously slow, although usually well-meaning. A simple menu emphasizes fresh fish and other seafood specialities, with a few items such as baby-back ribs and burgers thrown in for landlubbers.

For starters, "stone crabs" are ONLY the claws of the crab. It is illegal to catch a whole stone crab let alone serve it. Only the claws are harvested. Secondly, stone crabs are ALWAYS served cold. They are steamed immediately after being harvested and then chilled. I LOVE Scotty's but to each his own. Maybe if you knew what you were ordering you'd have been less disappointed.

First of all, it took us almost an hour to find because of where it is; I went to this place with a friend who wanted to take me out for my birthday... to go to this place was the worst idea ever. It took 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table and once they came back with our drinks, they tasted like sea water. Once our meals came out my so called “stone crabs” (stone claws) were very cold; almost like they were in the freezer and my Caesar salad had no salad dressing (why call it a caesar salad without the caesar). My friend’s Philly cheese steak (more like Miami cheese steak) was horrible and he didn’t even eat it; he took one bite and was completely turned off by it. Basically; do not go to this restaurant. Bad service, bad lighting, no live performance, etc, etc. Save yourself the time, the energy, and the money.

Pros: You could seat yourself

Cons: Everything about this place was bad except the seat yourself
