Great Gym for everybody. This gym in big, has lots of commodities, and is never over-crowded, even at prime time. The staff and the manager are highly accommodating. I feel at home at DAC and have never had a bad experience.

Wish I never would have joined. Years ago I had a gym membership and the club did not fulfill their contract, so I quit and it was a huge hassle to get them to stop billing me. So when I joined Downtown Athletic club this was the first question I asked. I signed up for 6 months and paid in advance. I was told this would be a one time charge as I was not going to be in town after that time. However I was charged at the beginning of my 6th month, at a higher rate than I was originally quoted had I paid monthly rather than 6 months up front. When I phoned to discuss, the rep interrupted me every time I tried to speak and treated me like I was some sort of trash. The gym itself is nice and clean, but not a lot of stations for serious weight training during busy times. I didn't care for the pressure to use the personal trainers. I actually stopped going before my membership was up because the trainer I used one time made me feel uncomfortable. I wish I never would have joined, I feel scammed.

Really?. Really? I cannot believe City Search allows factless slander such as this to be posted. The incident is 100% ficticious, no racist comments were made, no one's membership was threatened and I doubt the person who wrote it is or ever was a member. Anyone who is familiar with the Downtown Athletic Club knows about our ethnically diverse and culturally rich team of employees and members. This is one of the things that makes us such a great place. Anyone who reads this is welcome to come by and visit our award winning facility.

Terrible management. The manager of this gym is awful and phony. I confronted him about snide and racist comments he was making to other employees about other gym members and he threatened to cancel my gym membership. Needless to say I was glad to leave this gym.

Also, the membership staff pads the reviews here with fluff to boost the rating. There are other, much better gyms downtown where you aren't working out while inhaling the fumes from a 10 story parking garage.

Best in Town. I was extremely impressed with the Downtown Athletic Club from my very first visit. The staff is friendly and accommadating, it has a great atmosphere with a fun, social feel, and in a location like Downtown Miami, how can you beat free parking?? With a variety of equipment and group fitness classes, it is a fun, easy way to maintain motivation and reach your own fitness goals. Love this place!

To Each is Own. I love reading reviews of businesses, especially restaurants, some people love a place and some hate it. The same is the case for a gym I guess. I love the DAC. I transferred from Avanti Fitness about four years ago and I have had absolutely no problems. The DAC is very welcoming, even to someone of my age (I am old!) Recently when I suffered an injury and landed in the ER, i received flowers from the gym the next day along with a number of phone calls. I especially love my trainers. They know how to make an old woman feel young again.

No Judgements. Miami is one of those cities that is all about hype, the latest, the hottest, the most celebrities. I have been a member of the Downtown Athletic Club for 10 years and what I like best is that it is so friendly. Every time I walk in the staff speak to me and smile. The gym is clean and beautiful and they do not care if you are a star or a housewife, you are welcome and not judged by your outfit. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Welcome to the Downtown Athletic Club. In response to "Miami's Worst Run Gym!" I am the general manager mentioned in the review. My dentist called to say how pleased he is that my teeth received such a positive review. For over 24 years the Downtown Athletic Club has worked hard to provide our members and guests with the best facilities and services possible in our neighborhood. Our number one priority is the well-being of our members and guests and sadly from time to time we are forced to revoke membership privileges of some members who act against the best interest of our organization. The gentleman who wrote the review is one such former member and personal trainer who was asked to leave our club. Unfortunately, he chose to take his cause to a public forum and spread untruthful information in an effort to damage us. Instead something interesting has happened. The level of support we have received from our members who have read his review has been overwhelming and and the number of people who have come to tour our facilities as a result has been a boon to our business. For any reader who is not sure about whether the Downtown Athletic Club is a fit for them, I invite you come by and visit us for your tour and free trial membership. I am confidant you will like what you see.
