Editorial Review for Key Lime Inn – by Bill Citara
The Scene
Prettily restored in 1999, the inn boasts 37 rooms in a compound of buildings that date from 1854 to 1949. They're spread out over an acre of landscaped grounds, complete with a large swimming pool and patio. While not fancy, rooms are clean, comfortable and come with the usual amenities, including private bathroom and shower.
The Details
The inn offers an affordable taste of the laid-back Keys with homey, tropical decor, charm and sunny atmosphere to spare.
Rooms are tailored to couples, with most providing a king or queen bed. Three room types range from standards with private baths to spacious deluxe accommodations with a private patio and mini-fridge. Continental breakfast served poolside is complimentary. The inn's central location on Truman Avenue means that Duval Street, Ernest Hemingway's house, Mallory Square and the Southernmost Point in the United States are only an easy stroll away.

We arrived on the heels of Hurricane Rita but encountered no difficulties. Our room was large and quite nice (in the old mansion). The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room and pool were clean, and the parking was convenient. The continental breakfasts were a nice feature, too. The grounds were quiet and it was a nice anniversary getaway.
Pros: Parking, Breakfast, Quiet
Cons: Not for families

This motel is the place to stay if you have very limited funds. It has an ideal location, nice (but very small) pool, comfortable bed, and offers a basic continental breakfast. However, do not get the standard size room, as it is extremely small. Try to upgrade to the next level if you can. My only complaints are: the rooster that wakes you at 4 AM, the room had a musty smell, and the pool was too crowded. I would consider staying here again, but in a premium-size room only.
Pros: location, comfortable bed, free breakfast
Cons: rooster, musty smell, room size/ decor
