Editorial Review for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Originating in Lebanon Texas, this country store and restaurant has branched out all over the U.S. The décor includes old advertising signs, farm equipment, early kitchen appliances and photos which complement the country-style seating. Their menu includes home-style comfort foods like meatloaf and house-made mashed potatoes daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure to stop into the gift shop for souvenirs and a variety of knick-knacks.

My family loves road trips and as the matriarch of the family I usually choose to have at least a couple of meals at the Cracker Barrel. I love the atmosphere, the food is always great and the store is full of stuff that takes me back to my childhood. I have traveled up and down the east coast and have visited many Cracker Barrels – I can’t get over the difference there is in the quality of service once you go south of West Palm! What is usually a great eating experience quickly turns to frustrating after getting terrible service – CONSISTANTLY! We came in one evening – the restaurant was not full and were seated quickly. Our server kept complaining and just would not take care of business. After about 1 hour we found ourselves with incomplete orders, half our food did not make it because they had run out and we were surrounded by a sea of messy tables. No one was bussing, the kitchen seemed to run out of specific items and the wait staff seemed to be non existent. Not only did this happen to us at the Boca location, but also at Boynton. I will be trying out the newest Cracker Barrel in Homestead, but the others left a bad impression. It’s a shame because the food is great!

At last I found a place where the food tastes like my grandma cooked it (and my grandma made everything from scratch). The boutique adjacent to the restaurant has the most lovliest things not found anywhere else (great for original, beautiful gifting).

Pros: Great home-made food, quaint little store, fast service
