A blast. Been there several times and it's completely worth the hype. Good drinks at a good price, awesome DJ, and laid back peeps. Love this spot.
Best spot in Miami.
Purdy Lounge is hands down the best spot in Miami. It's laidback lounge vibe is like nothing else on the beach. Whenever friends come in town I always bring them to Purdy. Its not like the typical pretentious Miami Beach club.
The staff is super friendly and engaging. When they're not busy they actually talk to the customers (unlike some places). Even when they are busy they still manage to have fun with the customers. One bartender in particular, his name was Cary or Kerry, might be my favorite bartender on the beach. Handle bar mustache, dancing and singing, wearing a costume, still the fastest bartender I've ever seen.
The DJs are great. They will play everything from old school rap to rock to reggae to dance to anything else you can think of. You cant put the music into a single genre. If you can dance to it or have ever sung it to your self in your car they play it.
As for this negative review Lavender wrote, its bullshit.
Your "wealthy friend" racks up a $250 bar tab and has to go to an atm. You step outside to call him. To the bartenders it looks like your trying to bail on a $250 bar tab. I would be shocked if security didn't stop you. I also dont see how you politely throw $20's at someone.
NEVER going back. Last night my friends and I went to Purdy Lounge. My wealthy best friend bought drinks all night. At the end of the night, the total was over $250, and upon paying the tab, his credit card declined (he just bought a huge TV that day). After his card declined, he needed to walk to the nearest ATM, so we stayed at the bar and waited for him to come back. After a short while, I stepped outside to call him, while my girlfriend was still inside seated at the bar. The bartender followed me outside and tried to pull me back inside, to pay the tab. I asked him not to put his hands on me, so he went inside and brought out five more guys to "bring" me back inside. I didn't want to be embarrassed, and unfortunately agreed to pay the bill as long as they didn't touch me. Thank goodness my friend came back (after I paid), and reimbursed me with cash. I still tipped the bartender $10 on a begrudging, high bill that I did not incur, and he actually complained to my friend about the low amount of my monetary gratuity. My friend then politely threw a couple $20s at him. I cannot believe how rude and aggressive people can be and will not ever go back there after that treatment.
fun. great place to wine and dine your girl to a magnificent evening. the prices for the drinks are not that bad as well.
Purdy is the Bomb.
This place has strong drinks, great shots and a great place to hang and have fun. What it isn't is South Beach BS or attitude, pick and choose by an obnoxious doorman. You will get in, the sound system is great, their is a DJ most nights and you will have fun.
I work here and the Purdy has been open since 2000 and yeh it is cold early, you have to be cause when it gets packed we want it comfortable. but there is no F'n way somebody got a drink with No VODKA. No Way that dude most be a competitor.
Meh. Not a huge fan of this place. Have been dragged there by local friends a few times who love the laid-back feel. I don't know about you, but when I go out in Miami, I want to feel like I'm in the middle of the action, not in a neighborhood hole in the wall. This place is smallish, and if you want laid-back, by all means, but I can't figure out why anyone would pick this place of all places to go. The last two times I've gone in the summer, the A/C has been so cold, I wanted a parka. Not happening.
Avoid that bar!.
I went to Purdy lounge bar for a relaxing night with my nephew an niece but I ended in a embarrassing situation.
We ordered a "cranberry vodka drink" and maybe for a mistake, the bartender forgot to add vodka.
That's ok, mistakes happen, I just tried to be polite and ask for a new drink right after the first sip but instead to get a new one I got totally mistreated. On top of that I had to pay $8.00 for a glass of a crappy cranberry juice and a lot of ice.
Cozy Local Hang. It flies a little under the radar and may not be the most well known street in South Beach but the place is a nice little place to hang. Plenty of couches, the staff is super friendly, and they have always had great music. The drinks are affordable and there is decent room to dance in the two rooms.
Find fun and games, funky decor and well-priced drinks at this hip yet laid-back spot..
It doesn't matter what night of the week you hit the Purdy--the vibe is always groovy, the drinks are always good (and cheap) and the pool table is always lined with stacks of quarters. Comfy couches and big plastic chairs shaped like giant hands are flanked by candlelit end tables; lava lamps cast a purple haze throughout the smoke-filled front and back rooms. Live bands, DJs and just plain old CDs provide the tunes, depending on the night.
Value me at Purdy. I was so tired of paying $12 for a martini and dealing with the overly aggressive men, then finally I discovered the Purdy, thank goodness. Friday nights its my hangout. I usually come with 3 oher girls and we dance away. The staff is really nice to us and most always buy us some shots and make us feel safe.
