This authentic Irish Pub opened on June 26th, 2000, and is the only genuine Irish Pub on South Beach. The Pub is a remarkable collection of authentic Irish decor. The interior is inspired by pubs the owners grew up seeing on the streets of their native Ireland. The Pub is an amazing feat of workmanship; the mahogany bar is imposing and impressive. It was made and shipped directly from Ireland to be reassembled here on the shores of Miami. The whole pub has a distinctive European feel. But the overall atmosphere is relaxed and homey. In Short – Playwright's furnishings make for a casual, comfortable and classy pub. There's a small stage in the front for live music, a full wooden bar with stained-glass inserts in the backboard and cushy bar stools and tables at several heights for maximum comfort. There are also numerous televisions scattered around for the sports fans. Irish classics like shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, Guinness beef stew, and fish-and-chips fill patrons with the expected meat-and-potatoes diet.

Bad, bad experience at the Playwright
by freerunner
I hate to say it, but I'm not going back to this place. I went there with a group of 6 (six) and put down my credit card for the first round of shots to celebrate a friends birthday. Over the course of the night others in the group gave their cards to the bartender for drinks and food. At the end of the night, everything ordered was on my tab with the explanation that it was "easier that way." Try working out a $400 tab with people that had left. Caution! The catty and inefficient staff will stun you.
- Pros: Good wings
- Cons: Unprofessional and inexperianced staff.
