Editorial Review for Casa Tua – by Bill Citara

In Short
How fitting: a luxurious, intimate Italian restaurant in the luxurious, intimate Casa Tua ("Your Home") hotel. The Mediterranean-style eatery seats 100 and feature a "friend's table" in the kitchen for dining up close and personal to executive chef Sergio Sigala. Fresh pasta and seafood are particularly prominent, and dishes reflect the Italian culinary esthetic of sophisticated simplicity.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Don't look for a flashy neon sign, or any kind of signage at all for that matter. Just look for the black iron fence at 1700 James Avenue, and you're there.

The Extras

The eatery is actually on Miami Beach's list of historical landmarks. It was built as a private home by architect Robert A. Taylor in 1925.

We had dinner on a Friday night, and not only had terrible service...waiters serving us wrong size portion and then taking away...spilling champagne on menus, asking us twice for both drink and dinner orders...but the sommelier was arrogant about our wine choices and kept pressuring us to order most expensive wines. Food was acceptable but small portions...and bill for 4 was over $800-and they charged us for extra bottle of wine... not worth it by any stretch. Very disappointing....too bad...beautiful setting!

Pros: Romantic Setting, Ambience

Cons: Valet parking $20-, Service

I went to Casa Tua on my latest visit to South Beach and I will for sure go back! You must make reservations. The staff was a little rude but the food was awesome! I ordered the NY Steak and it was delicious! The wine list is a little overpriced. Not a place to go if you're on a budget, everything is served a la carte. Beautiful and romantic setting, especially on the patio!
