Tips for Delano Hotel

I've lived in Miami my whole life and I've never been denied to get into a place for a pool party at 3pm while on a guest list and been demanded the only way to get in was to buy a bottle...(keep in mind I'm a girl and I was with one other girl, no guys - plus we're not over 200lbs!!) In addition, we just walked up to the door and we stated who's list we were on and they told us the only way to get in was to buy a bottle, so we walked away. The people that work there were rude and fake and show special treatment to their friends, who walked in passed up as we were at the door. Very small place and NEVER a good crowd! The day and night time parties there SUCK!!! I've also been to a few of the parties that they have at night and it's the tiniest place, bad music, bad crowd. Just overall not a good place to go.

3rd time and i keep loving it. This was my 3rd time ad Delano, this time I Went as a couple, and it was incredible. Love the atmosphere, the food, the staff are AMAZING... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals.us They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Horrible service. My husband and I recently were at the Delano for a business meeting. We came in separate cars on a Saturday night. My husband was told that we did not have to pay for the valet service because of our meeting that we had scheduled with our clients. The service at the bars lacked attention to response of any kind of service. They were either short staffed or did not care to serve drinks. Our clients were disappointed in the long waits for service. We were not impressed by the atmosphere. My husband and I turned in our valet tickets at the same time. We both had to pay $24.00 because the valet man wouldn't recognize that we had a business meeting there and was told that we wouldn't have to pay. He got his car in 20 minutes and left. They could not find my car after waiting 30 minutes. I went to the manager who came out and investigated. After another 10 minutes they finally brought me my car which had the wrong claim ticket number. They gave me a ticket number 019537 but my car had the ticket number 19579 so they totally screwed up that service which by the way cost $24.00. The manager did not even care that they had messed up on my ticket.

My advice: DON'T GO THERE!!!

Rude Rude Rude and YES THERE IS A DRESS CODE. I am staying at the Ritz Carlton and wanted to check out the Delano's restaurant and bar on my way back from dinner as a possible Friday night hang out and possible next stay. When my wife and I made our way up the steps the valet jumped on me and said "Excuse me sir are you a guest at the hotel?" I responded, "No, but I wanted to check out the bar and restaurant". He looked at me and said, " We have a dress code and do not allow shorts after 9:00 PM." and with no apology and an attitude as if I were low rent. I am an Executive and make great money, my wife is totally hot, and has a huge rock on her hand. My only infraction was wearing long white linen shorts and a designer T shirt when it was still 90 degress. Other groups of people were going into the hotel in shorts and not being accosted. Some of the valet and bell staff were in fact wearing shorts. In my opinion, this was totally unacceptable elitism. I have been eating at all the hot spots this week in South Beach but the Delano won't be one of them. Guess they feel the $350 I would have spent tonight is somehow beneath their standards. OY! This web site says there is no dress code. Whatever happened to honesty in advertising?

The last word in celebrity-studded chic on South Beach.. In Short
South Beach's undisputed destination for celebrities and those who want to be them, this towering art deco compound was transformed into a surreal retreat by quirky star designer Philippe Starck back in 1995--and it's still hauter than ever. The 250-foot-long lobby corridor is like an entryway to a fantasy world of stealth wealth, where sheer white drapes sway from the ceilings and insouciant rich types mingle among some of the world's most iconic and unusual "living room" pieces--nary a glance is made at the $9,000 Eames La Chaise or the priceless gold Salvador Dali chair featuring high-heeled shoes as feet. Contrasting the colorful exuberance of the public spaces, the 208 lofts, one-bedroom suites and pool bungalows are awash in breathtaking virginal white. To take the larger-than-life sensation even further, guests can head to Agua, the hotel's sprawling rooftop spa offering 360-degree views.

Hits: The design is unlike anything else in Miami and the Blue Door Restaurant, with its three distinct spaces, offers non-hotel guests an opportunity to experience the hotel's environment and globally-tinged menu of delights.

Misses:
The pool area--visible from Blue Door's outdoor patio--is enticing but inaccessible to non-hotel guests. Also, prices can be as absurd as some of the furnishings ($62 per person for Sunday brunch? Chairs in the form of a Moroccan woman?). Yes, that's right.

Worth your time!. I have been here 4 times and each time it's gotten a bit better. The first time was awful so that isn't saying a lot! I agree with the last review..Prices are reasonable for food and excellent service but the drinks are overpriced. Crowd was very mixed, mostly late 20's to early 30's. The space is quite impressive and its always fun to check out the rest of the hotel on a nice buzz from the booze.

Love, love, love this hotel!. Being from L.A., it's not easy for a hotel to impress me. But I have to say, none of them compare to the Delano. I absolutely love this place! Every time I'm in Miami, you can find me here. One of the main reasons is that I simply love the decor -- I'm a huge Philippe Starck fan and the design in this place is so quirky, so eclectic, it's design heaven! From the big bear bench in the lobby and Eames rocker to the gyspy-lady chairs and hanging silks that lead to the hotel restaurant, this place is the absolute coolest. Some might say it's already had its heyday, but I say it's become a modern classic. What's more, the bar's mojitos are yummy and the food at the restaurant is consistently good. The little shop is also a hidden gem with all the fashion/culture mags and small selection of edgy fashion.

wasnt impressed. After staying at the Delano's sister hotel, ShoreClub I was very disappointed in this hotel. Yes, the decor is nice and the pool area is nice but the customer service in my opinion was horrible and it did not compliment the amount of money that I spend in staying there. Me and a couple of my girlfriends stayed for 4 nights around a holiday weekend. Besides the front desk, concierge, bell men and housekeeping the other employees did not make you feel welcome or important, and a few of them were rather rude. It was impossible to get service in a timely fashion around the pool or on the beach. I repeatedly asked for items that were never brought. At the end of my stay I vowed to never come back, I dont believe in spending alot of money and not receiving superior customer service. I would recommend ShoreClub, I loved it! They were very accomodating and I definitely got my money's worth!
