Favorite way to spend a weekend afternoon: In the water, during the summer. As a Miami Dolphins season ticket holder since the Marino days, you know where I am on Sundays in the fall – Favorite bands: The Killers, Modest Mouse, and any band that can take modern spins on the carefree alt-rock of the 1980s. I was part of the Miami dance scene in the late 1980s with my band Paris By Air, and I'm still passionate about music – Last splurge: Finally giving the kids what they wanted and springing for a backyard pool – Favorite drink: When in Miami, how can you not try a mojito? Raspberry mojitos seem to bring out the best in me lately – –

Even if I wasn't a fan of the Hall of Fame quarterback, the comfort food is so much better than athlete-named venues typically settle for. Save room for the almond basket for dessert. You'll thank me.

If cheap and fast is how you ride, this unassuming cafeteria is the best proxy to the dearly departed Lila's of Westchester. Oh, how I miss Lila's.

Casa Larios

Let the tourists and politicos have Versailles. The original Lario's is really the best Cuban food eatery in town.

If the charm of waiters whipping up fresh guacamole at your table doesn't win you over, the authentic Mexican entrees will. If you find a better chicken tortilla soup, let me know.

Prime 112 Restaurant
Read Reviews112 Ocean Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139 (map)
There is no shortage of quality chophouses in town, but this trendy choice slaughters the stuffier competition with its signature side dishes. That may explain why there always seem to be a celebrity or two a few tables away.

The Raleigh Hotel
Read Reviews1775 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 (map)
It may lack the girth and amenities of the Loews or the celebrity-magnetic appeal of Delano, but this is the coolest beachfront hotel in South Beach.
