In its glory years, Fontainebleau's iconic lobby bar was the place to be. It became famous in James Bond's "Goldfinger" movie, and we all know that 007 prefers his martinis shaken, not stirred. After a massive 2008 makeover, the elegant watering hole has recaptured its throwback grandeur.
This Art Deco masterpiece caters to the legal vices. Why else would its retro bar be right next to its humidor-stocked cigar room? The vibe is timeless chic. It's the real deal, pouring fine champagne, cocktails, whiskeys and brandies since the 1940s.
Giant vodka martinis can be ordered in the classy lobby bar or upstairs in the upper terrace. Ambience seekers know just where to go after they tip the bartender, heading outside to the legendary wavy pool or a few paces out to the beachfront bonfire.
Tucked away in the lower lobby of the majestic Biltmore in Coral Gables, premium cocktails and wines by the glass are the only orders that matter. Smokers can then cradle their drinks as they head outside to the bar's loggia, which overlooks the postcard-perfect courtyard fountain. Just remember that the bar doesn't open until 4pm, and it's closed on Sundays.
